NSCDC Refutes Viral Reports of Clash Involving Mining Marshals in Niger

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Niger State Command, has dismissed as false and misleading reports circulating on social media regarding an alleged clash involving its Mining Marshals in Sabon Daga, Bosso Local Government Area.

In an official statement, the Command’s spokesperson, DSC Abubakar Rabiu Muti, confirmed that at approximately 9:22 a.m. on October 16, 2025, NSCDC personnel were confronted by hoodlums while attempting to apprehend suspects engaged in illegal mining activities.

He explained that despite the attack, the officers exercised restraint and withdrew safely, ensuring the situation did not escalate further.

“We wish to clarify that there were no civilian casualties, and the injuries sustained were limited to some of our personnel. Any reported damage was confined to NSCDC vehicles,” Muti stated.

He urged the public to disregard the false reports, while commending citizens for their continued support and understanding of the Corps’ operations.

“The Command remains fully committed to safeguarding Nigeria’s critical assets and infrastructure,” he added, assuring that further updates would be provided as necessary.
