The Federal Fire Service, Rivers State Command, on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, officially ushered in a new era of leadership following the formal handover of duties from the outgoing State Controller, ACF Hawa Weli, to the newly appointed Controller, ACF Obasi Ikenna.
The brief but significant ceremony, held at the Command Headquarters in Port Harcourt, symbolized a seamless transition designed to sustain operational efficiency and enhance the Service’s commitment to public safety and fire prevention in the state.
In her valedictory remarks, ACF Hawa Weli expressed appreciation to the management and personnel of the Command for their dedication and cooperation throughout her tenure. She urged them to extend the same spirit of loyalty and teamwork to her successor.
In his inaugural address, the new State Controller, ACF Obasi Ikenna, thanked the Controller General of the Federal Fire Service, Dr. Olumide Samuel Adeyemi, for the trust and opportunity to serve. He pledged to consolidate on the achievements of his predecessor and further strengthen proactive fire management and emergency response efforts across Rivers State.
The ceremony was attended by officers and staff of the Command, who expressed their readiness to support the new leadership in fulfilling the Service’s mandate.
