The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Jigawa State Command, has strongly condemned the gruesome and heartbreaking murder of a three-year-old girl, Harira Yakubu Bala, a resident of Sabon Gari, Kiyawa Local Government Area. The lifeless body of the child was discovered in a nearby bush on Wednesday morning, October 15, 2025.
According to preliminary reports, the victim was declared missing by her parents at about 1100 hours on Tuesday, October 14, 2025. Sadly, within 24 hours, her remains were found with multiple injuries, indicating severe assault and foul play.
Upon receiving the distress call, NSCDC operatives from the Kiyawa Divisional Office, led by Superintendent of Corps (SC) Shamsuddeen Amin, immediately mobilized to the scene, cordoned off the area, and recovered the body for medical examination and further investigation.
A post-mortem examination later confirmed that the child had been raped and brutally murdered by yet-to-be-identified suspects. The Command described the act as barbaric, inhuman, and utterly condemnable, calling it a direct affront to humanity and morality.
Reacting to the tragic incident, the State Commandant, Commandant Muhammad Kabiru Ingawa, directed the Intelligence and Investigation Department to work closely with the Kiyawa Divisional Office and other security agencies to ensure that those responsible for this heinous crime are swiftly apprehended and prosecuted.
Meanwhile, the remains of the deceased have been handed over to her family for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.
Commandant Ingawa extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and assured members of the public that the NSCDC remains fully committed to the protection of lives and property, particularly the safety of children and other vulnerable groups across Jigawa State.
He further urged residents to remain calm, law-abiding, and security-conscious, and to promptly report any suspicious movements or persons to the nearest security formation for immediate action.
