In line with its commitment to promoting public safety and preventing fire disasters, the Federal Fire Service (FFS), Gombe State Command, organized a fire safety sensitization lecture for corps members at the NYSC Orientation Camp, Amada, Akko Local Government Area, on Saturday, October 4, 2025.
The session, facilitated by Assistant Superintendent of Fire (ASF) Ibrahim Isah from the Public Education and School Outreach Unit of the Information, Investigation, and Enlightenment Department, focused on fire safety awareness, firefighting techniques, and safe handling of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG).
ASF Isah educated the corps members on the fundamentals of fire, its common causes, preventive measures, and effective firefighting methods. He emphasized the importance of early detection, quick response, and the use of appropriate equipment to reduce losses during fire incidents.
He also highlighted the dangers of improper domestic gas usage and shared practical safety tips, including correct cylinder installation, leak detection, and proper storage. Isah urged corps members to maintain a high sense of safety both at home and in their various places of primary assignment.
The interactive session saw active participation from corps members, who engaged in practical demonstrations on fire prevention and the correct use of portable fire extinguishers.
This sensitization exercise forms part of the Command’s continuous efforts to build a safety-conscious society through regular awareness programs, capacity building, and proactive public engagement.
