NSCDC Kogi Command Deepens Partnership with FRSC, Calls for Stronger Synergy in Tackling Security and Safety Challenges

The Kogi State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Commandant Aletan Olumide E., has emphasized the need for stronger collaboration among security agencies to effectively address emerging security and societal challenges within the state.

He made this call during a courtesy visit by the newly deployed Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Kogi State, Mr. Tanimu Yahaya, at the NSCDC State Headquarters in Lokoja.

Commandant Aletan commended the FRSC for its efforts in promoting road safety and maintaining order across the state. He noted that the NSCDC and FRSC share a long-standing relationship rooted in mutual respect and commitment to safeguarding lives, property, and critical national infrastructure.

In his remarks, Sector Commander Tanimu Yahaya appreciated the NSCDC for its vital contributions to internal security and community protection. He reaffirmed the FRSC’s readiness to partner closely with the Corps, particularly in addressing issues such as overloading, unsafe transportation of mixed cargoes, and other road-related infractions across Kogi’s transport corridors.

He further stated that the FRSC headquarters had mandated greater inter-agency cooperation, especially with organizations pursuing similar objectives. Yahaya assured that his office would remain open to constructive engagements and innovative ideas capable of enhancing public safety and development in Kogi State.

Responding, Commandant Aletan expressed gratitude for the visit, describing it as a historic moment that further cements the cordial relationship between both agencies. He highlighted the widespread presence of the NSCDC in all local government areas of the state, which facilitates intelligence gathering and proactive community engagement.

He noted that, “Given Kogi State’s strategic position as a gateway bordered by nine states, including the FCT, this partnership is indispensable in addressing the multifaceted challenges confronting the state.”

The visit concluded with the presentation of a commemorative plaque by Commandant Aletan to the FRSC Sector Commander, symbolizing the shared commitment to continued cooperation and public service.
