The Adamawa State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has intercepted a trailer loaded with stolen pipes belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).
According to reports, the pipes were carefully stacked at the base of the trailer, while bags of chaff were placed over and around them to disguise the illegal cargo.
Operatives of the NSCDC arrested five suspected vandals involved in the unlawful possession and transportation of 204 iron pipes.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSC Amidu Baba, disclosed in a statement issued in Yola that the interception took place on September 30, 2025, along the Jalingo–Numan Road in Adamawa State. The suspects were reportedly transporting the items to Yobe State.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the iron pipes were excavated and loaded from a bush around Mararaba Abbare in Lau Local Government Area of Taraba State,” Baba stated. He added that the suspects concealed the pipes with chaff in an attempt to evade security checks by making the cargo appear as farm produce.
