Imo State Government Bans Mining Activities Across the State

Imo Governor, Hope Uzodinma

The Imo State Government has announced an immediate ban on all forms of mining activities within the state.

According to the government, the decision was taken in response to growing concerns over environmental degradation, illegal mining operations, and threats to public safety in various communities.

The statement added that the ban will remain in effect until a proper regulatory framework is established to ensure that mining operations in the state are conducted legally, safely, and sustainably.

The government also directed security agencies to enforce the order and warned individuals and companies involved in illegal mining to vacate all mining sites immediately or face prosecution.

It further assured residents that the measure is aimed at protecting the environment, preserving public health, and ensuring responsible use of the state’s natural resources.
