The Nigerian Navy on Saturday, 20 September 2025, conducted its Third Quarter Route March across all Commands, Units, Ships, and Establishments nationwide. The simultaneous exercise, held in the early hours of the day, is a long-standing military tradition aimed at enhancing physical fitness, mental alertness, and unity among naval personnel.
The Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, described the exercise as both a show of force and a measure to strengthen the operational readiness of the Navy. He noted that beyond fitness, the march reaffirms the service’s commitment to protecting Nigeria’s maritime domain and supporting national security. He further charged personnel to maintain professionalism, discipline, and loyalty while carrying out their duties, urging them to remain steadfast in upholding Nigeria’s democracy and supporting constituted authorities.
The event was also marked by the participation of other security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Federal Road Safety Corps, and members of the National Youth Service Corps. Their involvement underscored the importance of interagency collaboration and collective responsibility in safeguarding the nation.
