NSCDC Kogi Arrests Suspect for Vandalizing Community Transformer

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kogi State Command, has arrested a 34-year-old man, Aminu Abdullahi, for vandalizing a transformer along Kano Road in Kabba, Kogi State. Abdullahi was caught in the act of dismantling the facility alongside an accomplice identified as “Smart,” who managed to escape arrest and is currently at large. The suspect has since confessed to the crime and is in custody.

The arrest was made possible through effective collaboration between the Corps and members of the local community. This partnership, strengthened during a recent stakeholders’ forum on the protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI) in Kogi State, has enhanced intelligence sharing and community support for security operations.

Speaking after the arrest, the State Commandant, CC Aletan Olumide, commended residents for their cooperation and stressed the need for timely, credible information to help security agencies prevent sabotage and protect public assets. He assured that the accomplice still at large would be tracked down, while confirming that Abdullahi will be prosecuted after investigations are concluded.

The Commandant also issued a stern warning to vandals and other criminal elements, reiterating the Corps’ unwavering resolve to safeguard lives, property, and all critical infrastructure in Kogi State.
