The Gombe State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested six individuals suspected of exhuming a corpse and harvesting human body parts for ritual purposes.

According to a statement issued by the NSCDC on Thursday, the arrests followed a coordinated operation based on credible intelligence. The raid, carried out between 10:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. on September 11, 2025, was conducted jointly by officers from the State Command Headquarters and the Gadam Division.

The suspects were identified as:

  • Adamu Umar, 22
  • Umar Jibrin Aboki, 21
  • Abdullahi Umar Dauda
  • Muhammed Isa Chindo, 28
  • Kuwuji Sarki, 39
  • Manu Sale, 23

All suspects are residents of various communities within Kwami Local Government Area.

The group is accused of exhuming the body of Late Mallam Manu Wanzam, an 85-year-old man buried on September 9 at Gadam North Cemetery. Investigations revealed that Kuwuji Sarki allegedly contracted Muhammed Isa Chindo to procure human parts for ritual use. Chindo then reportedly recruited the remaining suspects to carry out the grave-digging operation in exchange for N500,000.
