It was all celebration and pomp, tuesday in Lagos when scores of newly promoted officers and men of the Nigeria Customs Service got decorated in their new ranks.
The ceremony which took place at the expansive play ground of the Customs Training School in Ikeja, Lagos, had the families and friends of the newly promoted 239 officers being decorated, marking a significant milestone in their careers.
Breakdown of the jubilant officers comprised of 18 new Controllers, 102 Deputy Controllers, and 119 Assistant Controllers
Assistant Comptroller-General Mohammed Babandede, Zone ‘A’ Coordinator, who decorated the joyous officers on behalf of the Controller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, commended the them for their dedication to duty.
He admonished them that promotion is not just about the rise in carrier progression but a call to more dedication to service.
While urging the officers to mentor junior colleagues and foster a culture of excellence within the Service, Babandede charged them to continue to uphold the pride of excellence that the Service is noted for.
The ceremony was anchored by Chief Superintendent Hussein of the Federal Operations Unit, Zone ‘A’, and Chief Superintendent Abdullahi of the Lagos Free Trade Zone Command.
The duo also acknowledged the unwavering support of the officers’ families, recognizing their sacrifices and commitment that had seen their spouses and relations emerging in carrier excellence.
The decoration ceremony was witnessed by most of the Area Controllers in the Zone namely, Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba of Apapa command, Comptroller Frank Onyeka of Tin Can Command, Comptroller Muhammed Shuaibu of the FOU Zone A. Comptroller Awe of Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Comptroller Joe Anani of PTML command, Comptroller Gambo of Oyo/Osun command, Comptroller Otunla of Idiroko command, and Comptroller Joy Eghosa Edelduok the KLT Command.
