As part of ongoing efforts to tackle the rising insecurity in Sokoto State, the State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Commandant EA Ajayi, has directed the immediate deployment of personnel on a 24-hour patrol and surveillance of all Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI) across the state.
This proactive measure is intended to address increasing security threats such as vandalism, espionage, theft, kidnapping, banditry, sabotage, miscreant activities, and subversion.
During a muster parade briefing, Commandant Ajayi reaffirmed his commitment to protecting lives, property, and key national infrastructure. He noted that, as a pragmatic leader and advocate of positive change, he has developed a strategic framework to confront the security challenges facing the state and the country at large.
He emphasized the need for a seamless and impenetrable security network that can effectively deter criminal activities and provide rapid response to threats. He urged all personnel to contribute meaningfully to the Corps’ mandate by showing commitment, diligence, and prompt compliance in their assigned duties.
Ajayi highlighted the importance of proactive intelligence gathering, stating that credible information from threat-prone areas would be swiftly acted upon to prevent incidents before they occur.
In addition, he proposed a multidimensional strategy that incorporates non-kinetic approaches, notably through the use of advanced technologies. These include Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) systems, microchips, and Advanced Surveillance Cameras (ASC) to enhance crime detection, prevent attacks, and ensure lasting peace and stability in Sokoto State and the nation.
In conclusion, the Commandant’s briefing underscored a renewed drive to elevate the security posture of the NSCDC and reinforce its core mission of safeguarding critical infrastructure and the lives of citizens.
