The Controller General of the Federal Fire Service (FFS), Samuel Adeyemi Olumode, has paid a courtesy visit to the Controller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Sylvester Nwakuche at the Service Headquarters in Sauka, Abuja.
The meeting reflected mutual respect and a shared commitment to enhancing safety, institutional reform, and collaborative growth.
During the visit, CG Olumode revealed plans for the Fire Service to provide training to NCoS staff and inmates on fire prevention, safety awareness, and emergency response. He also pledged the Fire Service’s support in conducting fire safety inspections for new facilities and deploying personnel to strengthen fire protection measures. Additionally, he requested mentorship from NCoS on cooperative management, highlighting the positive impact such initiatives could have on improving staff welfare through affordable services and financial empowerment.
In response, CG Nwakuche pledged full cooperation and committed to supporting the Fire Service with resources from the arms squad and intelligence units. While acknowledging that correctional facilities are equipped with fire extinguishers, he emphasized that partnering with the Fire Service would further deepen the culture of safety. Both leaders reaffirmed their dedication to building a strong partnership aimed at protecting lives, enhancing staff welfare, and driving reforms within their organizations.
