The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Gombe State Command, achieved a significant milestone today by launching its first-ever jogging and fitness exercise. The initiative, led by the State Commandant, CC Jibrin Idris, marks the beginning of a monthly tradition, with every first Wednesday of the month dedicated to physical training.
The event commenced at 7:00 AM with an invigorating jog through key streets in the city. Officers started from the state headquarters, proceeded to the iconic Rainbow Roundabout, and returned to the base. This was followed by a structured warm-up and stretching session aimed at improving flexibility and preventing injuries.
The highlight of the day was a spirited volleyball match between the Commandant’s team and the Deputy Commandant’s team. Displaying skill, coordination, and determination, the Commandant’s team emerged victorious with a 2–0 win in a tightly contested 25-point game.
In his address, Commandant Idris emphasized the importance of physical fitness, mental resilience, and discipline in the performance of NSCDC duties. He noted that these attributes are essential for personnel to effectively meet the demands of their service to the nation.
The event concluded with a group photo session, capturing the unity, camaraderie, and renewed commitment of the corps to excellence.
This maiden exercise signals the start of a new era of wellness and teamwork within the NSCDC Gombe State Command, under the dynamic leadership of CC Jibrin Idris. It reinforces the Command’s dedication to building a healthier, more agile, and mission-ready workforce.
