The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Benue State Command, on Tuesday, 2nd September, 2025, welcomed the State Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Commander of Narcotics Mustapha Olayinka Tajudeen, MNIM, on a courtesy visit to its Headquarters in Makurdi.
The State Commandant of NSCDC, Commandant Alice Larai Bitrus, while receiving the NDLEA delegation, expressed appreciation for the existing synergy between the two agencies. She highlighted the critical link between drug abuse and criminal activity, emphasizing the need for a united front.
“Most crimes are closely tied to the abuse of controlled and illicit substances,” Commandant Bitrus stated. “To effectively combat crime and insecurity, we must develop and implement strategic frameworks that limit access to these harmful drugs.”
She reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to support the War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) initiative through enhanced cooperation and joint operational efforts.
In response, CN Mustapha Olayinka Tajudeen expressed gratitude for the warm reception and proactive engagement by the NSCDC Command. He praised the collaborative spirit that has defined inter-agency relations in the state.
“Commandant, I’ve been briefed on the strong support your command has consistently extended to the NDLEA,” CN Tajudeen remarked. “I am here to strengthen and expand this partnership, particularly in the areas of joint operations and manpower deployment.”
He further noted the undeniable link between drug abuse and crime, calling for deeper, structured collaboration between security agencies and key stakeholders in the fight against substance abuse and related criminal activities.
