The Katsina State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested an 18-year-old suspect, Hamza Ahmad, for possession of hard drugs in the Sabuwar Unguwa area of Katsina Local Government Area.
The arrest was made on Monday, August 11, 2025, by a special surveillance team deployed as part of the Command’s renewed efforts to tackle crime and ensure public safety under the leadership of State Commandant Aminu Datti Ahmad, fsf, MADM, FCAI.
According to a statement issued by SC Buhari Hamisu, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, the suspect was apprehended while in possession of a quantity of hard drugs. During preliminary interrogation, Ahmad reportedly confessed to the crime.
Commandant Ahmad reiterated the commitment of the NSCDC to eradicating drug abuse, trafficking, and other criminal activities threatening the socio-economic fabric of the state. He emphasized that the Command remains on 24-hour surveillance and will continue to act decisively against all forms of criminality, including the activities of vandals and economic saboteurs.
The suspect is currently undergoing further investigation, and the NSCDC has assured the public of its resolve to ensure justice is served.
Commandant Ahmad expressed appreciation to the residents of Katsina State for their continued support and called for greater collaboration with security agencies by providing timely and credible intelligence.
