The Niger State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has apprehended five individuals in connection with illegal mining operations in Minna.
Among those arrested are four alleged miners and one suspected mineral dealer. The arrests were made during a coordinated raid on mining locations around the 3 Arm Zone along the Western Bypass and at Caterigwari Mechanic Village.
Confirming the development, Dibie Maureen, Information Officer at the Ministry of Mineral Resources, stated that the operation is part of ongoing enforcement measures aimed at tackling unregulated mining across the state.
According to her, “The government remains resolute in its commitment to ending illegal mining and safeguarding Niger State’s mineral wealth from exploitation by unlicensed individuals and groups.”
