GOC 3 DIV DECORATES NEWLY PROMOTED OFFICERS: Urges them to remain dedicated to duty

In a vibrant ceremony held at the Rhino Officers Mess, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division and Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH), Major General Folusho Oyinlola, decorated newly promoted Captains, recognizing their achievements and urging them towards continued dedication to military service. The investiture, held on Friday, July 25th, 2025, was a gathering of commanders and staff officers from both 3 Division and OPSH, alongside the families, friends, and well-wishers of the celebrated officers.

Major General Oyinlola congratulated the officers on their well-deserved promotion, emphasizing the importance of meeting the expectations that come with their elevated rank. He advised the Captains to remain dedicated to their duties, highlighting the military’s close attention to career prospects and professional development. He also stressed the significance of self-development and prudent management of their finances.

The GOC further urged the officers to maintain a high standard of regimentation and discipline, emphasizing their crucial role as the backbone of the military. He acknowledged and commended the families for their unwavering support, recognizing the challenges they face while their spouses serve the nation.

Speaking on behalf of the newly promoted officers, Captain Umar Isah expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen OO Oluyede, for deeming them worthy of promotion and pledged their unwavering commitment to upholding the trust placed in them. Captain Isah also thanked the GOC for his exemplary leadership and all commanders at 3 Division for their continuous guidance and support, assuring them that the lessons learned during their service would be invaluable.

He concluded with a heartfelt appreciation to their families, friends, and well-wishers for their unwavering support, prayers, and sacrifices. “Your encouragement keeps us strong in service to our dear nation” he stated.

The newly decorated Captains include Capt UF Isah (acting Head of Dental Department, 3 Div Medical Services and Hospital), Capt P Ambe (Command Secondary School Jos), Capt EO Udo (3 Div Ordnance Services), Capt OJ Afesojaye (43 Engineers Brigade), Capt AC Chukwuma (catering officer, OPSH), as well as Capt CV Anele and Capt SS Barka (3 Div Army Public Relations).

The ceremony featured words of advice, a vote of thanks, a group photograph, and a presentation of a gift to one of the promoted officers who is proceeding for posting after conclusion of her tour of duty at OPSH.
