In a swift operation, the Gombe State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) paraded several suspects involved in theft, kidnapping, and vandalism at its headquarters in Gombe.

Commandant Muhammad Bello, represented by the Public Relations Officer Saad Buhari, briefed journalists on Friday regarding the arrests which were made possible through intelligence gathering.

According to Buhari, one of the apprehended suspects, Mohammed Sani, 35 years old and a resident of Arawa B in Gombe, was caught stealing 26 bags of fertilizer from a shop in Ture, Kaltungo Local Government Area. The stolen bags, valued at N42,000 each in the local market, were allegedly taken with the assistance of an accomplice who is currently evading arrest. Sani faces charges of conspiracy, mischief, and theft.

In addition to the theft case, the command also paraded Abubakar Mohammed, alias Baba Condenser, aged 26, who had been wanted by multiple security agencies for his involvement in various criminal activities. Mohammed, along with Ahmed Adamu, 23, from Barunde, allegedly conspired to kidnap Bello Sani, 26, and extorted a ransom of N70,000 before releasing him. Both suspects are slated to face charges of banditry and kidnapping.

Furthermore, three individuals identified as Haruna Abdullahi, Yusuf Saidu, and Hassan Mohammed were arrested for vandalizing cables from transformers belonging to the Gombe State Water Board. Their actions caused disruptions to essential services, prompting their arrest by NSCDC operatives.

Commandant Bello assured the public of the command’s commitment to maintaining peace and security in Gombe State, urging citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly. He emphasized the NSCDC’s determination to ensure that all suspects face the full consequences of their actions under the law.

The parading of suspects serves as a reminder of the NSCDC’s role in safeguarding communities against crime and promoting safety across the state.
