The International Maritime Institute of Nigeria (IMION), the research and training arm of the Nigerian Navy, is set to launch a specialized executive training programme for journalists, aimed at enhancing national awareness and media engagement in the blue economy sector.
Scheduled to take place later this month, the course is designed to provide media practitioners with an in-depth understanding of Nigeria’s maritime landscape and its untapped economic potential.
This initiative highlights the pivotal role of the media in shaping public opinion, influencing policy formulation, and promoting sustainable development within the maritime sector.
Renowned for its world-class training standards, IMION has assembled a team of leading experts to deliver impactful and knowledge-driven sessions during the course.
The executive programme will empower journalists with advanced insights and analytical tools to improve their reportage, policy advocacy, and public engagement on issues concerning the blue economy.
In a move that underscores the importance of the media in maritime discourse, the institute has extended an invitation to the President of the Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria (MARAN), a prominent figure in the field of maritime journalism.
According to IMION, the training aims to strengthen partnerships between the media and maritime stakeholders, enhance policy dialogue, and build capacity for the responsible and sustainable development of Nigeria’s blue economy.
As the country intensifies efforts to harness the economic benefits of its marine and coastal assets, such initiatives reflect a growing commitment to inclusive, knowledge-based development strategies.
