A seven-member delegation of the Civil Defence Officers’ Wives Association (CDOWA), Enugu Chapter, led by its Chairperson and wife of the State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Enugu State Command, Dr. Mrs. Josephine Willie, has paid a courtesy visit to the State Coordinator of the Road Safety Officers’ Wives Association (ROSOWA), Enugu Chapter, Lady Mrs. Uche Ogbodo.
Speaking during the visit, Dr. Mrs. Willie noted that the purpose of the visit was to foster friendship, explore areas of mutual interest, share experiences, and receive moral support from ROSOWA.
She went on to share some of CDOWA Enugu’s notable achievements since she assumed office, which include organizing free health awareness campaigns and medical outreach programs, hosting an Easter party for officers’ children, and providing financial assistance to widows and widowers of officers. These efforts, she said, reflect the association’s commitment to promoting the welfare and well-being of its members and the wider community.
Dr. Mrs. Willie elaborated on the objectives of CDOWA. She explained that the association is dedicated to promoting unity and cooperation among the wives of Civil Defence officers, while also offering support and welfare to its members.
In addition, CDOWA actively engages in community service and developmental projects, collaborates with wives’ associations of other security agencies on joint community service initiatives, and organizes capacity-building workshops and exchange programs aimed at equipping members with practical knowledge and skills.
In her response, Lady Mrs. Uche Ogbodo applauded the progress and achievements of CDOWA, noting that the association had accomplished so much within a short period. She described their work as both inspiring and a call to action for ROSOWA, especially as her association currently has fewer active members, a fact reflected in the day’s attendance. Nonetheless, she affirmed that ROSOWA has also been involved in efforts to empower its members and expressed optimism for future growth.
Mrs. Ogbodo warmly welcomed the CDOWA delegation and pledged ROSOWA’s willingness to collaborate and partner with CDOWA, adding that such a relationship would be beneficial to all members of both associations.
Mrs. Gloria Ogbuka of CDOWA emphasized the importance of encouraging officers’ wives to participate actively in such associations. She stressed that these platforms offer valuable opportunities for learning and personal development, enabling members to become better equipped in their roles as wives, mothers, and individuals.
The visit also included a courtesy call to the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Enugu State Command, CC Franklin O. Agbakoba, who warmly received the CDOWA delegation and held a brief interaction with them.
