NSCDC NASARAWA STATE COMMAND ENGAGES SCRAP DEALERS ASSOCIATION TO STRENGTHEN PROTECTION OF CRITICAL NATIONAL ASSETS

Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nasarawa State Command, has held a strategic meeting with the Scrap Dealers Association of Nigeria, Nasarawa State Chapter.

The crucial meeting was organized under the leadership of the Head of Department for Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI), Deputy Commandant  Kanoma Nwabueze.

The meeting, held at the State Command Headquarters in Lafia, was aimed at fostering collaboration and sensitizing scrap dealers on the implications of illegal handling, vandalism, and sale of materials linked to critical national infrastructure.

In his opening remarks, the 2ic of the Command DCC John Joseph Efere JP  representing the State Commandant Muhammed Kabiru Ingawa, emphasized the role of the scrap dealers in national security and economic growth, stressing the importance of their cooperation in the protection of public infrastructure. 

He reiterated that the NSCDC, in line with its mandate, will continue to engage stakeholders in proactive ways to prevent vandalism and protect public assets across the state.

“This engagement is part of our deliberate strategy to sensitize key stakeholders whose operations may impact critical infrastructure. Scrap dealers are a significant part of this ecosystem, and your cooperation is crucial to ensuring that national assets are not unlawfully tampered with, sold, or destroyed,” DCC Efere, stated.

Representatives of the Scrap Dealers Association, *Comrade Abdullahi Tsoho* expressed appreciation for the initiative, pledging their full support and cooperation with NSCDC to curb illegal practices and report suspicious activities. 

The association also called for more regular training and dialogue to keep members informed on legal boundaries and responsibilities.

The Command reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with all relevant groups to secure assets such as power lines, railways, telecommunications equipment, oil pipelines, water equipment and infrastructure and other vital infrastructure in Nasarawa State.

The engagement concluded with a call for continued partnership and the establishment of a communication channel between the NSCDC and the Scrap Dealers Association for prompt reporting and information sharing.
