Insecurity: Olowu reiterates call for support to Nigerian military

Oluwu of Kuta, Oba Hammed Makama Oyelude, has once again called on Nigerians to support the Nigerian military in the face of daunting security challenges and emerging new trend.

The traditional ruler made this call in a statement issued through his media office on Friday.

The call came on the heels of the arrests of some Pakistani nationals by the Nigerian military in the middle of the week.

Oba Makama said the invasion of the country by various militias and mercenary had posed another threat to the national security.

he urged Nigerians, especially traditional rulers, to ensure that their domains were safe and secured from these terrorists.

He said, “As we all know that the Nigerian Army is responsible for the promotion and securing of our territorial integrity which is the symbol of our sovereignty, we must all rally round them to ensure they succeed in this onerous task.”

Oba Makama, who insisted that keeping Nigeria as one is a task that must be achieved, added that failure will remain an ill wind that blows nobody any good.

He said, “It is unthinkable that Pakistan nationals will be caught training the Boko Haram insurgency on how to attack the symbol of our sovereignty which is the Nigerian Army.

“The terrorists have also gone ahead to acquire weapons such as UAV (drones) and the latest military hardware to confront our army.”

“We must ensure that all hands are on deck to defeat this deadly monster before it is too late,” the monarch added.

The Osun monarch also commended the Chief Of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Oluyede for prioritising troops’ welfare and leading from the front.
