Kwara NSCDC, UNILORIN collaborate on campus security management

The Kwara State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Umar J.G. Mohammed, has reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to supporting the University of Ilorin in maintaining a safe and secure academic environment.

The NSCDC state helmsman gave the assurance on friday 30th May, 2025 during a courtesy visit by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Wahab Egbewole, to the NSCDC State Command Headquarters in Ilorin.

Dr Umar, noted that as the lead agency in the Federal Government’s Safe School Project, the NSCDC is working closely with all stakeholders, including other security agencies, to safeguard students, staff, and infrastructure in educational institutions. He added that the Corps holds the University in high esteem, hence his willingness to partner and consolidate on the existing cordial relationship.

He reassured the Vice Chancellor of the Corps’ commitment to enhancing security surveillance within the institution to deter criminal activities, emphasizing that the Command will provide all necessary support to maintain top-tier security standards not only within the university premises but also its immediate surroundings.

In his remarks, Prof. Egbewole expressed appreciation to the Commandant for the Corps’ consistent support, describing the NSCDC as a dependable partner in promoting peace and security on campus.

He acknowledged the positive impact of the Corps’ presence in deterring criminal activities within the university and appealed for continued and enhanced collaboration to address emerging security challenges.
