COMMANDANT BITRUS ALICE LARAI READS RIOT ACT TO OFFICERS AND MEN

SAID DIRECTIVES BY THE COMMANDANT GENERAL TO END STOP AND SEARCH IS NONE NEGOTIABLE

CONVENED EMERGENCY MEETING OF ARM’S BEARING DEPARTMENTS AND UNITS

State Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Benue State Command Commandant of Corps Bitrus Alice Larai has in furtherance compliance with the Commandant General Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi directives to immediately stop forthwith the menace of Stop and search on every highway across the nation and the consequent embarrassing image damaging the acts is doing to the Corps, emphatically read the riot acts to Officers and Men during the weekly muster parade.

The Commandant stated this today during her weekly muster parade briefings, she stressed that the ban of stop and search Operation nationwide handed down through a circular dated 20th May, 2025 is none negotiable and meant to be complied with immediately, warning that any personnel caught violating this directives will be severely sanctioned.

“Your compliance is with immediate effects, be warned that violators of this directive will be sanctioned”.

The State Commandant charged Officers and Men to uphold the tenets of Professionalism, strict adherence and respect for fundamental Human rights, always be guided by the Corps’ Code of Conduct and observance of rules of engagement, as well as the Corps’ standard Operating Procedures.

“Let it be on record that I have emphatically directed everyone concerned to immediately bring an end to every form of Stop and search Operation, like wise you are also directed to dismantle every Check points operated within your respective area of responsibility”

Furthermore, the State Commandant handed down same directive in an emergency meeting she convened to address arms bearing Departments and Units.

During the meeting, a very frank and visibly determined Commandant, itemized critical and fundamental areas that immediately need urgent attention to include the charge to uphold human rights, staying within the Corps’ core mandate, the need to desist from unprofessional conduct, the issue of multiple check points and the outlawed subject matter of the use of Camp boys as well as the deployment of a single personnel on duty among others.

On the above subject areas, the State Commandant admonished Heads of Department and Operational Commanders directly concern to make immediate adjustments or be held accountable.

Heads of Department and Operational Commanders present in the meeting were the Command 2i/c, Head of CNAI, Head of Operations, Head of Intelligence and Investigation, Head of Administration, the Unit Commander, the head of Agro Rangers, the head of Anti Vandal, NSCDC Component Operations whirl stroke joint taskforce among others.
