
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Jigawa State Command, has officially welcomed a new State Commandant, Commandant Bala Bawa Bodinga, who assumed duty on Friday, 9th May, 2025.
Commandant Bodinga hails from Bodinga Local Government Area of Sokoto State. He is an alumnus of the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. Over the years, he has participated in numerous professional courses and trainings both locally and internationally.
These include:
- Drills and Parade with the Nigerian Army 4th Battalion Guards
- Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) at the Nigerian Army Peacekeeping Center, Jaji
- Leadership in Security Course at the Nigerian Army Resource Centre, Mambilla, Jos
- Arms Training at the Nigerian Prisons Service, Owerri
- Essential Skills for Effective Service Delivery at the NSCDC Academy, Sauka
- Cybersecurity and Disaster Management in collaboration with UNDP
- Leadership and Supervisory Management (UNDP)
- RAPID Emergency Management Assistance Program in Bucharest, Romania (2023), focusing on post-COVID-19 resilience strategies.
He also holds a Certificate in Intelligence Operations from the International Institute of Professional Security (IIPS). Commandant Bodinga has played active roles in numerous joint operations that furthered the NSCDC’s mandate.
His professional affiliations include membership in several national committees and associations. He notably served on the organizing committee for Nigeria’s 62nd Independence Anniversary and was the Head of the Federal Establishment Association in Lokoja, Kogi State. He has received various accolades, such as:

With this wealth of experience, his deployment to Jigawa State signals the Corps’ dedication to strengthening internal security and enhancing service delivery.
Speaking during the brief handover ceremony at the Command Headquarters in Dutse, Commandant Bodinga expressed gratitude to the Commandant General, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, for the confidence reposed in him. He pledged to collaborate with other security agencies, traditional institutions, and stakeholders to safeguard lives and property in the state.
“I am committed to upholding the NSCDC’s core mandates, particularly in the areas of critical infrastructure protection, disaster response, and community-based security. Together with my officers and men, we will intensify efforts to maintain peace and order across Jigawa State,” he stated.
The outgoing Commandant, Muhammad Danjuma (CC), represented by the Command’s 2iC, DCC Mikeal Olufunso Oyewole, praised the personnel for their dedication and encouraged them to give the same cooperation and support to the new Commandant.
