The Helmsman of the Plateau Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC), Commandant Ishaku Musa, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Plateau NSCDC Command to the prompt and legitimate prosecution of suspects, after a thorough and sufficient investigation has been undertaken by the investigating unit of the Command.

Speaking last weekend during an interview, Commandant Musa emphasised that the NSCDC, by virtue of its mandate, prioritizes the rule of law, stressing that the sterling leadership of Dr. Ahmed Audi has further helped the NSCDC stand out as a respected, law-abiding security agency in the country.

Commandant Musa emphasized that the NSCDC places premium importance on and strictly adheres to legally stipulated detention, not just as a legal requirement but as a fundamental responsibility in safeguarding the dignity and rights of individuals, while referencing Sections 34 and 35 of the Nigerian Constitution, which guarantee the right to dignity and personal liberty.

“I want to assure you that we run a highly efficient legal and investigation department at the Plateau NSCDC. This efficiency is reflected in our prompt arraignment and subsequent prosecution of suspects within the time frame stipulated by law. By prioritizing the need to respect human rights, the NSCDC aims to build stronger relationships with the community it serves, ensuring they are treated with integrity and respect. Let me reassure you that the leadership of the NSCDC, under Commandant General Ahmed Audi, is dedicated not only to maintaining civil obedience and orderliness but also to protecting the rights and dignity of all individuals,” Commandant Musa said.
