
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC Gombe State Command, bid a fond farewell to its Commanding Officer, Commandant Gyama Gyawiya, as he retired from active service on April 24, 2025, having attained the statutory 60 years of age. The elaborate pulling-out ceremony, held at the Command’s State Headquarters Gombe, was graced by notable dignitaries, including the Executive Governor of Gombe State, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, represented by Lt Col Abdullahi Bello (Rtd), the Honourable Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Heads of Security Agencies, eminent personalities including Officers, and Men of the Corps.
In his speech, Commandant Gyama expressed profound gratitude to the Commandant General, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, for the opportunity to serve under his leadership. He also appreciated the Executive Governor and the good people of Gombe State for their unwavering support and trust during his tenure. Commandant Gyama commended the Officers and Men of the Command for their dedication and sense of duty, urging them to sustain the momentum.
A valedictory session, held in his honour the previous day, was a testament to his remarkable service, with notable achievements highlighted and encomiums showered upon him. The retiring Commandant was showered with gifts as a token of love and respect.
