An ex-General in the Nigerian military, Brigadier General Alwali Kazir, has declared that Nigeria’s major challenge is the question of leadership and its readiness to address the country’s security challenges.
Kazir made this view known during an exclusive interview on Saturday, in Damaturu.
The retired Army General believes that leadership is the only missing link in Nigeria’s progress.
He stated, “Leadership is the only missing link for now.”
Kazir emphasised that Nigeria is a great nation with great people seeking great leadership to actualise its greatness.
According to him, “Nigeria is a great nation with great people seeking great leadership to actualise our greatness. That leadership is the only missing link for now. Once we find that, we’ll be on the roll!”
He lamented that the leadership question in Nigeria “is deliberately targeted to prevent it from becoming a rival to external interests seeking to continue colonial exploitation of Africa.”
Continuing, he noted further, “I strongly believe that Nigeria is deliberately targeted to ensure that we do not constitute a rival to the interests of those who seek to continue the colonial exploitation of Africa.”
The retired army boss who highlighted Nigeria’s past exploits in peacekeeping missions and liberation struggles stressed that these achievements have made external forces uncomfortable.
He maintained, “Our rise and growth would give direction to others, and that is scary.”
As a result of this problem, the Brigadier-General went philosophical, urging all Nigerians to keep praying for the country to find effective leadership in good time, saying, “May God Almighty help us find it in good time before it is late.”
