COAS CHARGES TROOPS TO ESCALATE TEMPO OF OPERATIONS, COMMISSIONS ACCOMMODATION TO BOOST TROOPS’ MORALE

In continuation of his operational engagement in Plateau State, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede has charged troops of 3 Division Nigerian Army to escalate the tempo of operations against insurgents and crminals in their area of responsibility. The COAS, who arrived the Division’s Headquarters in Maxwell Khobe Cantonment, Jos for his maiden operations visit on Tuesday 8 April 2025 appreciated the troops for their resilience in tackling security challenges on the Plateau and the nation in general.

He emphasised that the nation counts on their sacrifices and selflessness to ensure a peaceful and secure environment for socio-economic advancement. Gen Oluyede noted that the federal government is doing all it could to ensure their welfare and well-being. The COAS therefore urged the troops to give their best in their service to the nation.

During the visit, General Oluyede commissioned the newly built Headquarters 23 Support Engineers
and 13 Field Engineers Regiments. He also commissioned two 30-family blocks of soldiers’ accommodation to alleviate the accommodation challenges in the cantonment and shore up troops’ morale. The COAS assured the troops of more interventions to improve their welfare and working conditions.

Meanwhile, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division Nigerian Army, who is also the Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN Major General Folusho Oyinlola had earlier briefed the COAS on the operational activities of the Division as well as Operation SAFE HAVEN, highlighting successes, challenges and projections of the Division.

Responding, the COAS assured of his unflinching support to the Division to tenaciously pursue its mandate of keeping the Plateau and contigous states safe and secure.
