PLATEAU STATE YOUTH COUNCIL LAUDS MILITARY INTERVENTION OVER RECENT SECURITY BREACH IN BOKKOS

The Plateau State Youth Council has lauded military intervention over the recent security breach in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State. The group made this known today 5 April 2025, during a familiarisation visit to Headquarters Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) in Jos.

The group led by its Chairman, Diplomat Panan Gongden Daper, while speaking, said the group has over the years sustained collaboration with security agencies, especially Operation SAFE HAVEN. He commended the troops for their services despite attempts by criminals to truncate the peace being enjoyed in the State.

The Chairman, maintained that the group will continue to focus on bringing positive contributions to every aspect of governance, including the security of lives and property of Plateau residents. He assured the Commander of an open-door policy with OPSH to ensure the objectives of the military on the Plateau are achieved.

In his response, the General Officer Commanding 3 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN, Major General Folusho Oyinlola, charged the youth group to continually preach peace, and ensure everyone on the Plateau learns to live as one. The Commander described the youth as pillars of the society, and as such must continue to encourage others to support security agencies in their drive to secure the State from needless unrest.

General Oyinlola, encouraged the group to prioritise the welfare of youth and create avenues for self-development across board. The Commander also charged the group to tackle the challenges of drug abuse and cultism among the youth, in order to create a sane society populated by responsible young individuals. He, further assured that OPSH would continue to explore legitimate means towards addressing the security challenges within its Joint Operations Area.

Highlights of the familiarisation visit include signing of visitors’ book and group photograph.
