The General Officers Commanding (GOCs), 6 and 82 Divisions of the Nigerian Army (NA), Major General Emmanuel Eric Emekah and Major General Oluyemi Thomas Olatoye have renewed their commitment to strengthening operational collaboration between the two Divisions. They renewed the commitment when the GOC 82 Division received in audience, the GOC 6 Division at Headquarters 82 Divsion, Enugu on Thursday, 3 April 2025.

While making his remarks, the GOC 82 Division, Nigerian Army and Force Commander (FC), Joint Task Force (JTF) South East (SE) Operations UDO KA (OPUK), Major General Oluyemi Thomas Olatoye appreciated the GOC 6 Division, Major General Emekah and his entourage for the visit. He expressed the readiness of 82 Division to continue to support and collaborate with 6 Division operationally, particularly along common boundaries.

He also highlighted the criticality of intelligence sharing between the two Divisions, stressing that it will assist in boosting operational engagements. Major General Olatoye further maintained that both 6 and 82 Divisions are working to achieve the same end-state. He expressed optimism that many of such official engagements will come up, particularly for joint operations planing purposes and execution.

Speaking during the visit, the GOC 6 Division, Major General Emmanuel Eric Emekah, who also doubled as the Land Component Commander, JTF, South South (SS), Operation DELTA SAFE, reiterated that since he assumed command, he deemed it expedient to conform with flanking formations, hence his visit to the GOC 82 Division. Major General Emekah further emphasized the need for joint planning, Intelligence gathering and surveillance to address current security challenges, particularly as it affects the two Divisions. He commended the troops of 82 Division and JTF SS OPUK for their resilience in combating insecurity and creating an enabling environment for stability in their Area of Responsibility.
