COAS GEN OLUYEDE VISITS 32 ARTILLERY BRIGADE, TELLS TROOPS TO STAMP OUT SECURITY THREATS FOR SOCIO-ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

In continuation of his tour of formations and units of the Nigerian Army (NA) located in the 2 Division Area of Responsibility (AOR), the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede on Friday 14 March 2025 paid a working visit to the Headquarters 32 Artillery Brigade in the Ondo State capital, Akure.

Addressing troops of the Brigade at the Parade Ground in Owena Cantonment, General Oluyede informed that he was on a familiarisation tour of the Brigade to enable him obtain first hand information on the state of troops’ welfare, evaluate ongoing operations and administrative challenges, as part of his overall plan to transform the Nigerian Army for operational effectiveness. He charged the officers and soldiers to work in synergy with sister services, other security agencies and the intelligence community to stamp out all security threats within the Brigade’s AOR. The COAS admonished the troops to eschew all forms of unprofessional conduct while carrying out their constitutional responsibilities.

Gen Oluyede appreciated the efforts of the troops in ensuring security in their AOR and enjoined them to be more proactive and deliberate in conducting their operations with the required tenacity to make Nigeria better secured and justify the funds being expended on security. He observed that if adequate peace was achieved, it will expedite corresponding socio-economic development and prosperity across the country.

In his briefing to the COAS, the Commander 32 Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General Justin Ifeayin gave an overview of the security situation within the Brigade’s AOR, personnel training, current operations activities, as well as the administrative engagements and challenges of the Brigade. He expressed appreciation to the COAS for making soldiers’ welfare a top priority of his administration, since his assumption of Command, noting that this has enhanced troops’ morale. The Commander assured the COAS of the unreserved loyalty of the troops and their resolve to tenaciously support the operations objectives of the 2 Division.

The Army Chief also took time out to inspect ongoing construction works at the new Army Barrack in Oshogbo and the 22 Support Engineers Regiment Ibodi- Ijesa in Osun State; which are all geared towards providing conducive living and working conditions for troops.
