The Katsina Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has joined the global community in the celebration of ICDO Day 2025.
The event started with a special Juma’at prayer at the Juma’at Mosque GRA Katsina on Friday 28th February 2025.
The program also featured a fitness walk on Saturday 1st March, 2025 from the State Commandant Headquarters at Gidan Dawa Katsina, passed through WTC round about, reached Barhim and back to the Command.
In a keynote address, marking the forth event celebrating International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO) Day 2025, today Monday 3rd March, 2025 at the Command Headquarters Katsina, shortly after quarter guard inspection Commandant of Corps Aminu Datti Ahmad emphasized the role of Civil Defence in promoting safety and security in the country.
Commandant Ahmad further emphasized the theme of this year’s ICDO Day (“Civil Defence, Guarantee of Security For The Population”.)as reflected in the activities of the Corps.He also highlighted the Corps commitments under the leadership of amiable and indefatigable Commandant General Ahmed Abubakar Audi, in disaster mitigation, rescuing civil populace at the time of emergency and protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructures among others.He noted that the ICDO day is usually celebrated on the 1st of March every.
Commandant Ahmad also pointed out the NSCDC reviewed strategies to include conflicts and disaster mitigation, engagement and collaboration with relevant stakeholders among others.He also outlined different emergency response strategies, provisions and called on the various communities to cooperate with NSCDC in addressing the pressing security chellenges.
In his conclusion, Commandant Ahmad emphasized on NSCDC and community Collaboration in promoting safety and security, emphasizing on the theme of the day. He reiterated on the relevance of the day and charged personnel on the role of Civil Defence in safeguarding lives and properties.
