
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Kebbi State Command marked International Civil Defence Day with a series of activities aimed at promoting security awareness and community engagement.
The celebration began on Thursday, February 27, 2025, with a table tennis competition at Plus Centre at 1700 hours. On Friday, a prayer session was held at the Command Mosque at 1030 hours, followed by a Christian prayer session on Sunday at the office chapel.
The main event took place today, Monday, with a speech by the State Commandant, CC Kabiru Alkamawa Abubakar, who addressed officers and men of the Command at 1000 hours. In his remarks, CC Alkamawa emphasized the vital role of civil defence in ensuring security and reaffirmed the NSCDC’s mission to protect lives, property, and critical assets.
He stressed that security is the foundation of a progressive society, noting that without it, development is hindered, economic growth stagnates, and social harmony is disrupted. The Commandant also reaffirmed the NSCDC’s commitment to excellence, professionalism, and patriotism, urging officers to uphold the values of integrity, discipline, and service to humanity.
As part of the celebration, a fitness walk was conducted from the State Command Headquarters to the Legislative Roundabout. The Commandant expressed his gratitude to the State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris Kaura, for donating three Hilux utility vehicles to enhance the Command’s operational efficiency. He also commended officers at the Force Operational Base for their dedication to keeping the state safe and appreciated the people of Kebbi State for their trust and support.
