The Apapa premier command of the Nigeria Customs Service on Tuesday awarded five out of fourteen of its newly promoted Comptrollers, even as the Zonal Coordinator ‘Zone A’ of the Service, ACG Charles Orbih has called on all the newly promoted officers of the command to uphold the highest level of professionalism in their new ranks.
The officers who were recently elevated from rank of Deputy Comptrollers to Comptrollers, were honored with plaques for their distinguished performance.
The award recipients include; the Area Controller of Tincan Island Port Command, Comptroller Frank Onyeka, for his excellent service as DC in-charge of Apapa gate; Comptroller FM Muhammed, Comptroller Salamatu Atuluku; Comptroller Aisha Abdul; and Comptroller CV Eyapade.
Speaking at the decoration ceremony which took place at the Apapa Command auditorium on Tuesday, ACG Charles Orbih admonished the promoted officers to note that their new ranks is a testament of their dedication to unwavering integrity and remarkable performance, adding that more leadership qualities will be required following their promotion.
He urged them to play strategic roles to ensure the Apapa Customs Command maintains an unprecedented standard in revenue collection, trade facilitation, anti-smuggling operations, and national security.
“As the premier port of NCS in Zone A, you must maintain an unprecedented standard in revenue collection, trade facilitation, anti-smuggling operations, and national securities,” the Zonal Customs boss remarked.
Also speaking, the Customs Area Controller, Apapa Port, Comptroller Babatunde Olomu, congratulated the newly promoted Officers, acknowledging their hard work, resilience and dedication.
While appreciating the officers for their unwavering commitment which saw the Command record N2.3 trillion in revenue generation for the Federal Government in 2024, Comptroller Olomu said that their promotion is a call to improve their performance.
The newly promoted officers include: 14 Deputy Comptrollers promoted to the rank of Comptroller of Customs, 17 Assistant Comptrollers promoted to Deputy Comptrollers, and 50 Chief Superintendents of Customs promoted to the rank of Assistant Comptroller.
