AKWA IBOM STATE DEPUTY GOVERNOR RECEIVES COMMANDANT BASHAR; PLEDGES SUPPORT FOR NSCDC

The Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Senator Akon Eyakenyi, has promised to mobilize support for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in the state in order to help it succeed in carrying out its mandate and maintaining the peaceful ambience enjoyed in the state.

She made this commitment on Tuesday, 21st January, 2025 when she hosted the NSCDC helmsman in her office at the Government House, Uyo.

The Deputy Governor appreciated the invaluable contributions of NSCDC to the overall peaceful ambience and stability enjoyed in the state. She pointed out that the Governor places premium on security and appreciates the seamless collaboration that exist among all security agencies in the state and the positive effect it has on keeping crimes of all sorts at bay.

In her response to the State Commandant’s request for assistance with mobility, logistics and the Command’s building project, she assured that the Executive Governor has demonstrated his commitment to security affairs and takes their concerns and welfare seriously, and this case won’t be an exception.

Earlier, Comdt Bashar Kefas Hussaini highlighted the core mandates of NSCDC as the lead agency in the protection of critical infrastructure. He then pointed out key successes the command has recorded in the state especially in the oil sector which has seen Akwa Ibom State meet its projected oil output; as illegal bunkering, pipeline vandalism and other acts of economic sabotage has been reduced to the barest minimum.

Comdt Bashar harped on the challenges of logistics and mobility and appealed for support in that regards to boost the operational effectiveness of the command.

Highpoint of the visit was the presentation of plaque to Her Excellency in recognition of the unquantifiable support she has afforded the command.
