The Kwara State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Commandant Abbas Ndah Mohammed, has paid a courtesy visit to the Olupo of Ajase-Ipo,
His Royal Majesty, Oba Alhaji (Barrister) Ismail Bolaji Yahyah Muhammad Atoloye Alebiosu, to appreciate the monarch and the people of the community for their continued support and partnership with the Corps.
The visit, which took place earlier today, provided an opportunity for the Commandant to acknowledge the community’s contributions to security efforts and strengthen the existing relationship between the NSCDC and traditional institutions in Kwara State.During the visit, Mohammed also inspected the ongoing construction of the NSCDC Area G Command Office in Ajase-Ipo.
The project, described as a community-driven initiative, is aimed at providing improved operational facilities for the Corps and strengthening its capacity to discharge its statutory responsibilities in the area.
The Commandant commended the people of Ajase-Ipo for their commitment to supporting security operations through the construction project, noting that collaboration between security agencies, traditional rulers and host communities remains vital to effective security management.
He reaffirmed the Kwara State Command’s determination to deepen community engagement and strengthen partnerships with traditional institutions, community leaders and residents to address security challenges across the state.
He also emphasised the importance of collective responsibility in preventing crime, protecting lives and property, and maintaining peace.Mohammed’s visit underscores the importance of community participation in security infrastructure development, particularly at a time when closer cooperation between security agencies and local communities is essential for effective intelligence gathering and crime prevention.
The establishment of functional command offices can also enhance the Corps’ operational presence and improve its responsiveness to security concerns within surrounding communities.The Commandant’s engagement with the Olupo further highlights the role traditional rulers can play in promoting public cooperation with security agencies, encouraging residents to provide credible intelligence and fostering peaceful relations between security personnel and the communities they serve.
The NSCDC Kwara State Command reiterated its commitment to sustaining such partnerships as part of its efforts to protect critical national assets and infrastructure and enhance security across the state.
