The Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State Command, Oluyemi Joshua Ibiloye, joined the Governor of Ondo State, heads of security agencies, traditional rulers and other distinguished guests at the Arcade Parade Ground in Akure to commemorate Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary.The colourful ceremony brought together government officials, members of the armed forces, paramilitary organisations, community leaders and residents to celebrate the nation’s journey, achievements and aspirations since independence.Reflecting on the significance of the occasion, Commandant Ibiloye described the anniversary as a solemn reminder of the responsibilities that accompany citizenship and nationhood. He noted that Nigeria’s progress depends on the collective commitment of its people to peace, unity, patriotism and service.He urged citizens to remain steadfast in supporting initiatives that promote national development, security and social cohesion, stressing that every Nigerian has a role to play in building a stronger and more prosperous nation.The Ondo NSCDC boss expressed optimism about the country’s future, calling on Nigerians to continue working together to create more reasons to be proud of their nation while embracing opportunities to contribute meaningfully to its growth and stability.As Nigeria marks its 66th year of independence, he reaffirmed the commitment of the NSCDC to the protection of lives, property and critical national assets, while partnering with other stakeholders to advance peace, security and sustainable development across the state and the country.
