The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, has ordered the nationwide deployment of personnel and operational resources ahead of Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary, with a special focus on Critical National Assets and Infrastructure, public facilities and other vulnerable locations.
According to a statement issued by the Corps’ Public Relations Unit on Wednesday, the deployment will cover the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), with the objective of preventing vandalism, sabotage and other criminal activities capable of disrupting the anniversary celebrations.
Audi directed field commanders to ensure effective coverage of strategic installations and other sensitive locations while maintaining close coordination with sister security agencies and relevant stakeholders throughout the celebrations.
The statement quoted the Commandant General as directing the Corps to strengthen intelligence gathering, information sharing and rapid response mechanisms to address emerging security concerns and maintain a coordinated operational posture nationwide.Audi urged personnel to remain professional, vigilant and responsive in the discharge of their duties, while calling on Nigerians to support security agencies by promptly reporting suspicious activities, movements or persons to the appropriate authorities.
He also urged citizens to celebrate responsibly and use the occasion to reflect on the sacrifices of the nation’s founding fathers while reaffirming their commitment to national unity, patriotism and peaceful coexistence.
The Commandant General, on behalf of the officers and personnel of the NSCDC, felicitated with the Federal Government and Nigerians at home and in the diaspora, wishing the country a peaceful and prosperous 66th Independence Anniversary.
