Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo Olu, has assured residents and visitors to the state of his administration’s continued commitment to strengthening security and maintaining public safety.Sanwo Olu gave the assurance on Tuesday, when he met with heads of security agencies at the State House, Marina, Lagos, where he received briefings on security operations across the state and plans to further strengthen the security architecture ahead of the end of the year.The Governor said his administration would not relent in its efforts to prevent criminal elements from carrying out their activities in Lagos.“We will not relent on our efforts to ensure that criminals don’t find a place for their evil activities in our state,” he said.The meeting was attended by the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Tijani Fatai; Commander, 9 Brigade, Ikeja, Brigadier General A.O. Owolabi; Commander, Nigerian Navy Ship Beecroft, Commodore A. Adams Aliu; Commander, 651 Base Services Group, Ikeja, Air Commodore M.A. Imam; and Executive Secretary, Lagos State Security Trust Fund, Dr Ayodele Ogunsan.Also at the meeting were the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Tayo Ayinde; Secretary to the State Government, Abimbola Hundeyin; and the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of the State, Lawal Pedro.The security meeting comes as Lagos prepares to host President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and enters a period of increased activities associated with the end of the year. The state is also expected to witness a significant influx of visitors during the Yuletide, alongside various religious, cultural and social events.With political activities also gaining momentum following the Independent National Electoral Commission’s announcement of the commencement of campaigns, the Governor said the government would continue to work with security agencies to ensure adequate protection of lives and property across the state.
