The Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ekiti State Command, Commandant Sotiyo Igbalawole Emmanuel, has warned officers and men of the Corps against indiscipline, misconduct and all forms of unprofessional behaviour, stressing that violators will face strict disciplinary action.

The warning was issued during a high level management meeting convened by the Commandant and attended by members of the Command’s management team, Area Commanders, Divisional Officers, and Heads of Departments and Units across the state.

Addressing the gathering, Commandant Sotiyo underscored the importance of discipline, professionalism and strict compliance with the rules and regulations guiding the operations of the Corps. He noted that the responsibilities entrusted to NSCDC personnel demand integrity, accountability and unwavering respect for the rule of law.

He urged officers to uphold the highest ethical standards in the discharge of their duties, adding that public confidence in the Corps depends largely on the conduct and professionalism of its personnel.

The Commandant expressed zero tolerance for misconduct in the handling of arrests and individuals in lawful custody. He directed all officers to ensure that suspects are treated in accordance with extant laws and operational procedures, while safeguarding their rights, safety and welfare at all times.

He also emphasised the need for strict accountability in the management, storage and deployment of firearms and ammunition, as well as the proper handling, documentation and preservation of exhibits under the custody of the Corps.

Commandant Sotiyo warned that any officer found culpable of abuse of office, negligence, misconduct or violation of established procedures would be subjected to appropriate disciplinary measures and, where necessary, prosecuted in accordance with the law.

He further charged commanders, heads of departments and unit leaders to strengthen supervision within their respective formations, stressing that effective leadership remains critical to maintaining discipline and operational efficiency.

Reaffirming the Command’s commitment to excellence, the NSCDC boss called on all personnel to remain focused on the core mandates of the Corps and continue to discharge their responsibilities with diligence, professionalism and a strong sense of accountability in the service of the people of Ekiti State.
