The Department of State Services (DSS) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in the ongoing fight against corruption, economic and financial crimes across the country.The commitment was reiterated on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, when the DSS Director of Internal Security, Hakeem Olutope Abiola, led a delegation of senior officers on a courtesy visit to the Kaduna Zonal Directorate of the EFCC.Speaking during the visit, Abiola said the engagement was aimed at further consolidating the longstanding relationship between the two agencies, particularly in the areas of intelligence sharing, operational cooperation and coordinated efforts to tackle economic and financial crimes.He stressed the importance of sustained collaboration between security and law enforcement agencies, noting that effective intelligence gathering, information sharing and joint operations remain critical to addressing the evolving challenges posed by financial crimes and corruption.According to him, both agencies possess unique expertise and intelligence capabilities that, when effectively harnessed, can significantly enhance the nation’s capacity to combat criminal activities that undermine economic growth and national security.Abiola also underscored the need for stronger inter agency cooperation, stating that a united approach would improve the effectiveness of investigations, prosecutions and other enforcement actions against offenders.Responding, the Acting Director of the Kaduna Zonal Directorate of the EFCC, Assistant Commander of the EFCC (ACE I) Ahmed M. Ghali, expressed appreciation for the visit, describing it as a reflection of the cordial and productive relationship that exists between the DSS and the anti graft agency.Ghali said the visit would further strengthen the partnership between the two organisations and create additional opportunities for enhanced cooperation in intelligence gathering, information exchange and joint enforcement activities.He assured the DSS delegation of the EFCC’s continued support and commitment to deepening collaboration in areas of mutual interest, particularly in the collective effort to combat corruption, economic crimes and other threats to national development.The visit is expected to further reinforce the strategic partnership between the DSS and the EFCC as both agencies continue to work together to safeguard Nigeria’s economic and security interests through effective intelligence driven operations and law enforcement initiatives.
