The remains of the late Commander-General of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), Navy Captain Umar Abubakar Bakori (Rtd.), were laid to rest on Tuesday, August 12, 2026, in Kaduna State following Islamic funeral rites.
The solemn burial ceremony drew family members, friends, senior military and security officers, colleagues, associates and well-wishers who gathered to pay their last respects to the revered security leader and patriot.
Following funeral prayers, the late Commander-General was interred at about 1:00 p.m., marking the conclusion of a distinguished life dedicated to national service, community security and the advancement of grassroots safety initiatives across Nigeria.
The ceremony was marked by heartfelt tributes and reflections on the late Bakori’s enduring contributions to national security, leadership and the growth of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria.
