The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, has charged personnel of the Corps to uphold the highest standards of integrity and professionalism in the discharge of their duties, stressing that ethical conduct remains critical to the effective delivery of the agency’s mandate.

Prof. Audi gave the charge in Abuja during the induction of 100 officers of the NSCDC Anti-Fraud Unit drawn from various commands and formations across the country, as well as the launch of two books authored by the Head of the Unit, Commandant of Corps Emeribe Chinyere Victory, PhD.

The NSCDC helmsman noted that the Corps’ core responsibilities of protecting lives and property, maintaining public order, safeguarding critical national assets and infrastructure, and promoting community safety can only be achieved through integrity, transparency, and accountability.

According to him, corruption and fraudulent practices remain major threats capable of undermining institutional effectiveness, eroding public confidence, and damaging the reputation of public institutions.

“Fraud and corruption are insidious threats that can undermine our efforts, erode public trust, and compromise the very fabric of our agency. They not only affect our operations but also tarnish the reputation of the entire public service. Today, we are taking a firm stand against these threats and reinforcing our commitment to ethical conduct, transparency, and accountability,” he said.

Prof. Audi reaffirmed the Corps’ zero-tolerance stance on corruption, warning that any personnel found engaging in unethical practices would be sanctioned in accordance with established regulations.

In her welcome address, the Head of the Anti-Fraud Unit, Commandant of Corps Emeribe Chinyere Victory, PhD, said the unit remains committed to promoting integrity, transparency, and accountability within the NSCDC.

She recalled that the Anti-Fraud Unit was established in 2007 and received its foundational training at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Institute in 2008. Since then, she said, successive leaderships of the Corps have strengthened the unit through sustained capacity-building initiatives and operational support.

Dr. Emeribe expressed appreciation to the Commandant General for providing an enabling environment that allows the unit to carry out its responsibilities without interference. She added that the unit has continued to detect, prevent, and investigate cases of corruption, misconduct, and other unethical practices involving personnel and contractors.

The event also featured the presentation and launch of two books authored by Dr. Emeribe, titled The Dark Side of Duty and The Anti-Fraud Lexicon. The books were reviewed by retired Assistant Controller General of the NSCDC, Dr. Hammed Abodurin, PhD, fdc.

Goodwill messages were delivered by prominent stakeholders in the security and intelligence community, including the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU), Hajiya Hafsat Abubakar Bakori; a representative of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Peter Edako; a representative of the Inspector-General of Police, DCP Adeola Odetunde; and a representative of the Controller-General of Corrections, ACG Lakitile Cyrus.

The stakeholders commended the NSCDC leadership for institutionalizing anti-corruption measures and strengthening internal accountability mechanisms, describing integrity as the cornerstone of effective security service delivery and public trust.
