Ondo FFS Reaffirms Discipline, Punctuality, and Security Consciousness at Monthly Controller’s Parade and Lecture

The Federal Fire Service (FFS), Ondo State Command, has reaffirmed its commitment to operational discipline, punctuality, and security consciousness during its monthly Controller’s Parade and In-House Lecture held at the Command Headquarters.

Representing the State Controller during the parade, the Operational Commander, SF Ajayi Somi, addressed officers and personnel, stressing the importance of discipline, dedication, and punctuality in the discharge of their duties. He warned against absenteeism, lateness, and any conduct capable of tarnishing the image of the Service or jeopardizing the careers of personnel. According to him, professionalism and commitment remain essential requirements for effective service delivery.

Following the parade, the Command proceeded to its monthly educational session organized by the Protocol Office. The lecture, titled “The Importance of Security in Safety: Balancing Security Consciousness in the Line of Duty as Safety Responders,” focused on the vital relationship between security and safety in emergency response operations.

The session featured insightful presentations by AIF Ekundayo Oluwatosin Seun, AIF Pelemo Kayode, and AIF Olaghere Christiana Ekeinde, while the Head of Protocol, DSF Ayodele Ajulo, coordinated and concluded the programme.

During the lecture, participants were reminded that while safety measures are designed to prevent accidents and hazards, security measures are equally important in protecting personnel, equipment, and emergency scenes from intentional threats such as theft, vandalism, sabotage, and crowd interference. The speakers emphasized the need for responders to secure operational areas, maintain constant situational awareness, protect sensitive information, and ensure the safety of emergency assets.

The presenters also highlighted the importance of effective collaboration with law enforcement agencies, particularly during large-scale emergencies where crowd control and public safety become critical. They noted that a secure environment enhances the effectiveness of emergency operations and protects both responders and the public.

Representing the State Controller during the lecture, the Command’s Human Resource Management Officer, CSF Obagunwa Olu Ignatius, commended the presenters for their excellent delivery and practical insights. He conveyed the State Controller’s appreciation and urged all personnel to apply the lessons learned by adhering strictly to established security and safety protocols in the course of their duties.

The Ondo State Command reiterated that professionalism, vigilance, and discipline remain fundamental to effective emergency response and public safety service delivery.
