Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has been named the recipient of the 2026 Nigeria’s Most Secure State Excellence Award in recognition of his administration’s achievements in security management, crime prevention, and public safety.
The award, organised by People’s Security Monitor, will be presented during the 2026 Annual Security Conference and Award Ceremony scheduled to hold in Abuja. The event is expected to attract top government officials, security chiefs, traditional rulers, and policy experts from across the country.
According to the organisers, Governor Yahaya earned the recognition for strengthening intelligence-driven security operations, promoting peaceful coexistence, and creating a stable environment for governance and investment in the state.
Governor Yahaya has also been selected as a chief presenter of the book titled “The Defender of the Nation: President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Three-Year Onslaught Against Insecurity, His Tough Decisions, Sacrifices, and Gains.” The 21-chapter publication, authored by Isiaka Mustapha, examines Nigeria’s security challenges, counter-insurgency efforts, and inter-agency collaboration in tackling insecurity.
In addition, the governor is expected to deliver a keynote address on security governance, inter-agency cooperation, and community-based approaches to sustaining peace and stability in Nigeria.
The conference, endorsed by the Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs and the Nigeria Union of Journalists, is scheduled to hold on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at the auditorium of the Nigeria National Merit Award House under the chief guest speakership of General Christopher Musa (Rtd).
Organisers said the event would feature high-level policy discussions on national security, goodwill messages, the public presentation of the book, and the conferment of awards on distinguished individuals and institutions contributing to peace and stability in Nigeria.
