NUJ Backs Security Publication on Tinubu Administration

By Rahmon Sanusi, Abuja

The Nigeria Union of Journalists FCT Council has expressed formal support for a new security focused publication examining governance and national stability under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing it as a valuable addition to public policy literature and security analysis in Nigeria.

The publication, titled The Defender of the Nation: President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Three Year Onslaught Against Insecurity, His Tough Decisions, Sacrifices, and Gains, was authored by Isiaka Mustapha, who serves as Chief Operating Officer and Editor in Chief of People’s Security Monitor. The work is presented as a twenty one chapter analytical study of Nigeria’s response to complex internal security threats during the current administration.

The book offers a detailed review of national security interventions, including counter terrorism operations, efforts against armed banditry, intelligence restructuring, and coordination among security institutions aimed at restoring stability in affected regions across the country.

It further examines key policy decisions taken by the administration, operational sacrifices recorded among security personnel, and emerging outcomes associated with ongoing security reforms. The narrative combines governance analysis with field based security reporting to present a structured account of developments within the security sector.

Commentators have observed that the publication seeks to present both achievements and continuing challenges within Nigeria’s security environment, providing insight into operational limitations, institutional responses, and strategic priorities in high risk settings.

A central aspect of the forthcoming public presentation is the endorsement issued by the Nigeria Union of Journalists FCT Council, signed by its chairman, Comrade Grace Ike, which commends the author’s sustained engagement with national security reporting.

In the endorsement, the Council stated that it recognises the author’s commitment to documenting issues of national importance, particularly those relating to security and governance, which remain central to national stability and development.

The statement further noted confidence in the quality of the work, describing it as a well developed and comprehensive contribution that reflects professional experience in security journalism and aligns with the media’s responsibility to inform the public and support national dialogue on governance and security matters.

The endorsement has been interpreted within media and policy circles as institutional recognition of the growing role of specialised security journalism in shaping public understanding of governance challenges and security responses.

Preparations are ongoing for the official presentation of the book, which is expected to be led by the Defence Minister, General Christopher Musa, retired. The event will also serve as a key feature of the People’s Security Monitor Annual Conference.

The conference is scheduled to take place on Thursday, 4 June 2026, at the auditorium of the Nigerian National Merit Award House, Maitama, Abuja. It is expected to bring together security officials, policymakers, diplomats, and media professionals for discussions on Nigeria’s evolving security situation and governance priorities.
