Emir of Ilorin Receives New Kwara NSCDC Commandant, Calls for Stronger Security Collaboration

The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of the Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council, Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has called for sustained collaboration among security agencies, traditional institutions, and residents to strengthen peace and security across Kwara State.

The monarch made the appeal on Tuesday, 12 May 2026, while receiving the newly deployed Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Kwara State Command, Commandant Abbas Nda Mohammed, during a courtesy visit to his palace in Ilorin.

The Emir described security as a collective responsibility and stressed the importance of synergy, intelligence sharing, and community participation in addressing criminal activities and maintaining public safety.

He commended the NSCDC for its continued efforts in protecting critical national assets and infrastructure, supporting other security agencies, and contributing to the preservation of peace and order across the state.

The royal father also assured the new State Commandant of the support and cooperation of traditional rulers in Kwara State, while praying for wisdom, strength, and divine guidance in the discharge of his responsibilities.

Earlier, the State Commandant, Commandant Abbas Nda Mohammed, said the visit was to formally pay homage to the Emir and seek his royal blessings following his assumption of office as the NSCDC Commandant in Kwara State.

He reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to professionalism, efficient service delivery, and intensified operations against all forms of criminality in the state.

Commandant Abbas further stated that his previous service experience in Kwara State had provided him with a strong understanding of the terrain and security structure of the state. He assured that the Command would continue to collaborate closely with traditional rulers, community leaders, and other stakeholders to enhance security and public safety across Kwara State.
