The Nigerian Air Force has destroyed a major terrorist hideout in Katsina State in a precision air operation under Operation FANSAN YAMMA Sector 2, targeting a base linked to notorious kingpin Abasu Aiki.
The operation, carried out in the Dan Aji Forest in Faskari Local Government Area, significantly disrupted terrorist activities in the North West region.
According to a statement issued by the Director of Public Relations and Information of the Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the strike followed sustained and credible intelligence indicating renewed terrorist movements within the area.
Intelligence reports further indicated that the location served as a logistics hub and transit point for fighters loyal to Abasu Aiki, who have been associated with repeated attacks on communities and security personnel across the Faskari, Kankara, and Funtua axis.
Ejodame stated that Air Force assets identified armed terrorists on motorcycles and other fighters within the enclave before executing a swift and coordinated strike on both the targets and their support structures.
He added that Battle Damage Assessment confirmed the neutralisation of several terrorists, while the logistics base and associated structures were completely destroyed, resulting in explosions and widespread fire within the area.
The Air Force noted that the operation has significantly disrupted terrorist movement and resupply activities in the region.
It further stated that the success of the mission reflects its continued commitment to denying terrorist groups safe havens, dismantling their operational networks, and supporting broader efforts to restore peace and security across the North West.
